We are seeking a Software Support Engineer to tackle complex challenges across the entire Linux-based infrastructure and application stack. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Ubuntu, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage solutions (Ceph, Linux filesystems), networking (OVS, OVN, Core Networking), OpenStack, Kubernetes, and various open-source applications.

Your Role and Responsibilities
Diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues related to Ubuntu and other open-source software.

Work closely with Canonical’s support, field, and engineering teams.

Engage with upstream communities, contributing bug fixes and backporting patches.

Review and refine code produced by fellow engineers.

Develop deep expertise across multiple technologies and troubleshoot system-wide problems.
Maintain clear, technical documentation and effective communication.

Collaborate in team discussions to enhance processes, tools, and workflows.

Occasionally travel (up to 10%) for team meetups, events, and conferences.

What We’re Looking For
A strong academic background in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
Proficiency in Linux and open-source software.
Experience with at least one of the following: Python, Go, C, or C++ in a Linux environment.
A passion for solving complex technical problems and a drive to continuously learn.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a remote, globally distributed team.
Willingness to travel for company events.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
Enthusiasm for open-source technologies and working with talented individuals.
Interest or experience in areas such as Ubuntu Linux (kernel/userspace), Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging, or distributed systems.
