Description for DevOps Engineering Intern:

As a DevOps Engineer Intern at Guidewire, you will contribute to building and maintaining the DevOps Tooling Infrastructure for the DevSecOps team, supporting the scalability of the Guidewire Cloud offering. Your role involves defining best practices and methodologies for infrastructure setup, automation, and maintenance, collaborating closely with peers.

Responsibilities:

- Uphold core principles of integrity, rationality, and collegiality

- Understand the urgency of a production system and implications of changes

- Collaborate with operational teams to identify challenges and opportunities for improvement

- Build, automate, and maintain tooling infrastructure in AWS/On-Prem, emphasizing Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices

- Architect reliable high availability cluster solutions for development tools

- Improve reliability, performance, uptime, and response times through monitoring and visualization

- Operate development and high-available production environments in AWS

- Rapidly absorb new technologies and thrive in a fast-paced environment

Requirements:

- BA/BS in Computer Science

- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

- Working knowledge of infrastructure software tools (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker)

- Proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or equivalent programming/scripting

- Strong Linux system administration skills

- Analytical and systematic problem-solving approach

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills/Experience:

- Experience in an environment with cloud or off-premise enterprise applications

- Passion for automation

- Quick learner of complex systems and new technologies

- Understanding of AWS services (ec2, route53, s3, load balancers)

- AWS networking knowledge is desirable
